Jeremiah 23

Woe to the shepherds who make· the flock ·perish and who scatter it from My pasture! says Jehovah.
Therefore thus says Jehovah, God of Israel, against the shepherds shepherding My people: You have scattered My flock, and expelled them, and have not visited them; behold, I will visit upon you the evil of your actions, says Jehovah.
And I will bring··together those who··are··left of My flock out··of all the lands whither I have impelled them, and will return them to their homes; and they shall be··fruitful and multiply.
And I will raise··up shepherds over them who shall shepherd them; and they shall fear no more, nor be··dismayed, neither shall they be missing, says Jehovah.
Behold, the days are coming, says Jehovah, and I will raise··up to David a just, Growing··Branch, and a King shall reign and act··with··intelligence, and shall do judgment and justice in the earth.
In His days Judah shall be saved, and Israel shall abide securely; and this is His name by which He shall be called, Jehovah-our-justice.
Therefore, behold, the days come, says Jehovah, that they shall no more say, Jehovah lives, who brought··up the sons of Israel out··of the land of Egypt;
but, Jehovah lives, who brought··up and who brought the seed of the house of Israel out··of the north land, and from all lands whither I had impelled them; and they shall dwell on their own ground.
My heart within me is broken because of the prophets; all my bones are shaken··up; I am like a drunken man, and as a mighty··man into whom wine has passed, on··account··of Jehovah, and on··account··of the words of His holiness.
For the land is··full of adulterers; for on··account··of an oath the land mourns; the homes of the wilderness are··dried··up, and their running is evil, and their might is not right.
For both prophet and priest practice··hypocrisy; even in My house I have found their evil, says Jehovah.
Therefore their way shall be for them as flattery in the thick··darkness; they shall be thrust··out, and fall therein; for I will bring evil upon them, even the year of their visitation, says Jehovah.
And I have seen unfitness in the prophets of Samaria; they prophesied in Baal, and caused My people Israel to go··astray.
And I have seen in the prophets of Jerusalem a foul thing; they commit··adultery, and walk in falsity; and they confirm the hands of evildoers, that not a man returns from his evil; they are all of them to Me as Sodom, and they who dwell··in her as Gomorrah.
Therefore thus says Jehovah of Armies concerning the prophets: Behold, I will cause them to eat wormwood and give· them the water of gall ·to··drink; for from the prophets of Jerusalem is hypocrisy gone··out into all the land.
Thus says Jehovah of Armies: Hearken not unto the words of the prophets prophesying to you; they make· you ·vain; they speak a vision of their own heart, and not from the mouth of Jehovah.
They say, saying to those who disdain Me, Jehovah has spoken: You shall have peace; and they say to everyone that walks after the stubbornness of his own heart, No evil shall come upon you.
For who has stood in the council of Jehovah, and has seen and heard His word? Who has attended··to His word, and heard?
Behold, the whirlwind of Jehovah is gone··out with fury, even a travailing whirlwind; it shall travail on the head of the wicked.
The anger of Jehovah shall not turn··back, until He does, and until He raises··up, the purpose of His heart; in the last days you shall understand it with understanding.
I have not sent these prophets, but they ran; I have not spoken to them, but they prophesied.
But if they had stood in My council, and had caused My people to hear My words, then they should have turned· them ·back from their evil way, and from the evil of their actions.
Am I a God nearby, says Jehovah, and not a God afar··off?
Shall a man be hidden in hiding places and I shall not see him? says Jehovah. Do not I fill the heavens and the earth? says Jehovah.
I have heard what the prophets said, who prophesy falsity in My name, saying, I have dreamed, I have dreamed.
How long shall this be in the heart of the prophets who prophesy the falsity? And they are prophets of the deceit of their own heart,
who think to cause My people to forget My name by their dreams which they recount, a man to his companion, as their fathers have forgotten My name for Baal.
The prophet that has a dream, let him recount a dream; and he that has My word, let him speak My word of truth. What is the straw to the grain? says Jehovah.
Is not thus My word as a fire? says Jehovah; and as a mallet that shatters the rock?
Therefore, behold, I am against the prophets, says Jehovah, who steal My words, a man from his companion.
Behold me, I am against the prophets, says Jehovah, who take1 their tongues, and say, He says.
Behold, I am against those who prophesy false dreams, says Jehovah, and do recount them, and cause My people to go··astray by their falsities, and by their fickleness; but I sent them not, nor commanded them; and profiting they shall not profit this people, says Jehovah.
And when this people, or the prophet, or a priest, shall ask thee, saying, What is the burden of Jehovah? Thou dost then say unto them, What burden? And I will abandon you, says Jehovah.
And as for the prophet and the priest and the people that shall say, The burden of Jehovah, I will even visit upon that man and upon his house.
Thus shall you say, a man to his companion, and a man to his brother, What has Jehovah answered, and what has Jehovah spoken?
And the burden of Jehovah shall you remember no more; for the burden of each··man shall be his word; and you have overturned the words of the God of the living, of Jehovah of Armies, our God.
Thus shalt thou say to the prophet, What has Jehovah answered thee, and, What has Jehovah spoken?
But since you say, The burden of Jehovah, therefore thus says Jehovah: Because you say this word, The burden of Jehovah, and I have sent unto you, saying, You shall not say, The burden of Jehovah;
therefore, Behold me, and forgetting I will forget you, and I will abandon you, and the city that I gave to you and to your fathers, from before My face;
and I will put an eternal reproach upon you, and an eternal humiliation, which shall not be forgotten.
