Jeremiah 24

Jehovah showed me, and behold, two containers of figs were set··together before the temple of Jehovah, after Nebuchadrezzar king of Babylon had exiled Jeconiah the son of Jehoiakim king of Judah, and the princes of Judah, with the craftsmen and with the smiths, from Jerusalem, and had brought· them ·into Babylon.
One container had very good figs, as the figs that are firstfruits; and one container very bad figs, which could not be eaten for badness.
Then said Jehovah to me, What seest thou, Jeremiah? And I said, Figs; the good figs, very good; and the bad, very bad, that cannot be eaten for badness.
And the word of Jehovah was to me, saying,
Thus says Jehovah, God of Israel: Like these good figs, so will I acknowledge the exiles of Judah, whom I have sent out··of this place into the land of the Chaldeans for their good.
And I will set My eyes on them for good, and I will return them upon this land; and I will build them, and not break· them ·down; and I will plant them, and not pluck· them ·up.
And I will give them a heart to know Me, that I am Jehovah; and they shall be to Me for a people, and I will be to them for God, for they shall return to Me with all their heart.
And as the bad figs, which cannot be eaten for badness, surely thus says Jehovah: So will I give Zedekiah the king of Judah, and his princes, and what··is··left of Jerusalem, who are left in this land, and those who dwell in the land of Egypt,
and I will give· them ·over to turmoil, to evil, into all the kingdoms of the earth, to be for a reproach and for a byword, for a sharp··word and for a reviling, in all the places whither I shall expel them.
And I will send among them the sword, the famine, and the pestilence, until they be entirely··consumed from off the ground that I gave to them and to their fathers.
